About us
We connect experienced in-house lawyers with companies that need flexible legal talent, and we build the community and brand behind a better future of law.

Our story
Goodlawyer was founded in 2019 after CEO Brett Colvin walked away from Canada’s largest law firm, determined to fix a system failing both lawyers and the companies they serve.
With co-founders Parker Smith and Tom Alvarez, he set out to create the most desirable way to practice law. What started at a kitchen table is now a full-service legal talent platform for in-house teams across Canada and beyond.
Today, Goodlawyer empowers seasoned in-house lawyers to work on their own terms (fractional or full-time), while giving businesses scalable, flexible access to world-class legal expertise.
